April Happenings in Our Area
With April vacation week just around the corner and warmer days in the forecast, we rounded up some local happenings to explore, either as a family or on a solo adventure!
Virtual Patriots Day Celebrations
In our historic towns, Patriots Day celebrations typically bring out our New England pride. Due to COVID-19, all commemoration activities will be virtual this year. From virtual races to Zoom seminars, check out everything that the towns of Lexington and Concord have planned to keep our patriotic spirit alive. Our favorite activity is the contest inviting residents to decorate their front doors. We hope to see lots of pictures of red, white and blue front doors!
School Vacation Week Family Activities
Many local museums and attractions are open and following strict safety guidelines to get your kids out of the house! Make a reservation to get hands-on at Acton’s Discovery Museum or observe the animals at Stone Zoo in Stoneham. There are also lots of virtual offerings to keep kids engaged during their week off from the normal routine. Check out the filterable calendar of virtual and in-person options on mommypoppins.com.
Red Sox at Fenway!
We are so excited that baseball is BACK and Fenway Park is welcoming fans at 12% capacity. Tickets are on sale for April and May games in socially-distanced pods of 2 or 4 seats. Or you can indulge in an 8-suite private suite to take in the game with a few more of your closest friends or family. The Sox start a 10-game home stand this Friday, April 16 and tickets are still available for many, if not all, of the games! Be sure to check out the Health & Safety guidelines on the Red Sox website to prepare yourself for a fun and safe trip to the ballpark.
Local Getaways
New England is divinely rich in culture and offers an array of unique spots to visit. From hiking Mount Greylock in Western Massachusetts to exploring the locally-owned shops and small restaurants in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, there is truly something for everyone in our region. No matter where your origin, you can find a destination near or far to escape the everyday and enjoy our corner of the country. Not sure where to start? Check out one of the many local guides to area day trips and get your gears turning.
And don’t forget to take in all of the trails that are right in our own backyards. Finish off your walk, run or ride with a delectable treat from Bedford Farms Ice Cream!
