Patriots' Day - Monday, April 16th

How lucky are we to be located in such a hot spot to celebrate Patriot's Day?! Even though the New England weather is not on our side this year, there are still some great traditions to take the fam to! These are just a list of SOME of the activities taking place on Monday in Lexington. Check out Concord's Parade information here!

Re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington on the Battle Green

Starting bright (well, maybe not so bright) and early in the morning on Monday...  at 5:30am - YES! You read that right. Yawn. Stretch. This event recreates the historic skirmish in Lexington. Following the ringing of the bell in the Old Belfry, members of the Lexington Minutemen gather on Lexington Green to await the column of British Regulars as they march into the town center. A shot rings out, the skirmish follows, and the British column marches on towards Concord leaving dead and wounded behind. TIP: Arrive super early in order to find parking. If you have small children, bring a small ladder or be prepared to perch them onto your shoulders so that they can see over the crowd.  NOTE: Check the link above for the rain date announcement, just in case the skies aren't friendly that morning!

Post 9/11 Traveling Tribute Wall of "Faces of Remembrance"
& Massachusetts Vietnam Gold Star Tribute Wall

Burlington residents Gina Johnson and her brother Paul Roth, co-founders of Operation: Home Ties,  will have their Traveling Tribute Post 9/11 Portrait Wall of "Faces of Remembrance" and the two-sided Massachusetts Vietnam Gold Star Tribute Wall displayed. This will be open to the public from 5:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Buckman Tavern Walk Through Tours

Walk through the rooms of the historic tavern (interpreters present). Admission tickets available at the house.  Adults $3/Children $1.

Patriots' Day Afternoon Parade

Starting at Massachusetts Avenue and Maple Street in East Lexington, proceeding west along Massachusetts Avenue through Lexington center, left onto Worthen Road ending at the town pool parking lot.

And if you're looking to escape the shots fired and the parading through the streets - head into Boston!

Boston Marathon

For those of you who live in a box or have just moved to sunny, oops scratch that, New England - the Boston Marathon is one of the most beloved events to take place in the great city! In fact, some people refer to Patriots' Day as "Marathon Monday" because it always takes place on this day. Pack up the family and plant yourself along the route to cheer on MA native, Shalane Flanagan, who will hopefully win her first Boston Marathon after becoming the first American woman to win the New York Marathon!

Red Sox vs. Orioles

Who wouldn't want to wake up, catch the Re-enactment of Lexington on the Battle Green, grab a Dunkin's coffee and cruller and head into a Sox game?! Heck, you can even catch a glimpse of some of the elite runners before heading into the Fenway for the 11:05 am game! Just be sure to pack your rain gear - ya know, that darn New England weather again.

However you choose to spend the day, we hope you enjoy it!
