Meet Yoko! Acupuncturist & Yoga Instructor

Meet our next Maker, Yoko! She owns a home practice in acupuncture, Bedford Acupuncture Center and is a yoga instructor at Yoga Nova. She attended the University of Oregon and earned a bachelor of science degree in Kinestheology, also known as Exercise & Movement Science. After graduating, she pursued her career in acupuncture by enrolling in a master's degree program at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle. There, she earned the school's highest class honors and passed the National Board Exam for Acupuncture in the 90th percentile range for both theoretical and practical examinations.

As an acupuncturist, Yoko has been servicing the greater Bedford - Lexington community since 1999. She specializes in Japanese acupuncture techniques, well known for its effectiveness and gentle nature. She believes in providing the highest level of attention and professional service to her clients. She has had much success with treating a variety of chronic and acute health disorders, including, but not limited to: infertility, pain management, arthritis, sciatica, migraine, high blood pressure, sleep disorders, depression, and anxiety. During treatments, she integrates acupuncture, moxabustion, shiatsu massage, and very unique pendulum work maximizing her client's opportunity to relax, heal themselves, and be at peace.

Yoko is also a certified yoga instructor who loves the creativity and expression of vinyasa flow yoga.  She completed her yoga teacher training with internationally re-known yoga instructor Natasha Rizopoulous. She has been an instructor at Yoga Nova located in Bedford Center since this past September and now teaches classes on Mondays and Thursdays. The mission of Yoga Nova is to create an inclusive community that is committed to supporting one another on our personal and unique journeys to a happier and healthier state of being.  We hope to create a deeper connection within ourselves and to each other, that will resonate positively far beyond our local community. Yoga Nova offers classes in the vinyasa style of yoga as well as yin yoga, restorative yoga, slow flow yoga, yoga for beginners and Pilates. We also offer yoga classes for kids monthly. We have a small, carefully-curated boutique featuring CBD products, skincare, art, and clothing, created by local artists and artisans.

After living her childhood overseas in Singapore, Brazil, and Japan, Yoko moved to the United States for college and has been a Bedford resident for the past 20 years.  A fun fact about Yoko is that Bedford is the longest place she has ever lived. It feels like home to her and she has met so many amazing people during her time here. She is without a doubt a hidden gem in our community who has helped so many people, including our team owner, Suzanne!

I have known Yoko for years and have always loved her healing and calming energy. I have so much respect and admiration for her. The past couple of years I have been seeing her consistently at her acupuncture practice in Bedford, and it has changed my life. I feel healthier every day and she has helped me to manage constant pain I was having in my neck. I find her sessions to be relaxing and stimulating at the same time, it is the best feeling. We owe it to ourselves to take care of ourselves and our bodies and there is noone I know with more intuition and amazing abilities than Yoko!! I also have started taking her yoga class at Yoga Nova in Bedford and it’s one of THE best classes I have ever taken. Yoko has a gift and I am so grateful she is such a wonderful part of our community!!
