Women’s History Month: Celebrating Our Influencers
It is March, a month that brings the first day of Spring and the glimmer of warmer weather up in the Northeast. It’s also Women’s History Month, when we commemorate and celebrate the vital role women have played in American history. Here at Suzanne & Company, we have been motivated by many different women as we write our own histories. Take a look at some of the inspirational women in our lives below.
Keep an eye on the blog this month for more insightful quotes and touching anecdotes of women who have inspired our 14-person team of connected, compassionate, hard-working women.
Suzanne Koller, Visionary
“Turn your wounds into wisdom,” Oprah Winfrey once said, resonating advice from a truly unstoppable trailblazer whom Suzanne always admired. Even more significant than her explosive career trajectory is her ability to connect and unite people. She is an icon, a voice of wisdom and truth, who has managed to avoid the drama that often stigmatizes many who elevate to her position. Suzanne continues to respect all that Oprah does from the community level to her global impact.
Becky Venuti, Integrator
In her kitchen, you’ll see a tribute to the woman who fostered Becky’s love for life, especially her passion for entertaining, cooking, laughing and connecting people. “Tutti a tavola a mangiare” (translated to “Everyone to the table to eat!”) were the words spoken by her quintessential Italian grandmother every Sunday when the family would gather for hours of nurturing their appetites and their souls. The number of seats at the table mattered not - anyone and everyone was welcome at her table. Fondly remembering weekends spent in her grandma’s kitchen, Becky is enveloped by her spirit when she’s baking and cooking up a storm in her own home.
Maureen Eliason, Transaction Manager
During a time when so many families are struggling with food insecurity and the daunting challenge can feel paralyzing, a quote from Mother Teresa resonated with Maureen: “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” Through a friend, Maureen connected to a group called Community Cooks, that draws on community members to cook once each month for a transitional living center in nearby Lowell. Mother Theresa’s words serve as a reminder that any small act of kindness or service can help to brighten another person’s day and make strides toward solving a bigger problem.
Stephanie Fairchild, Listings Manager
Steph recognizes the power of profound statements to guide and motivate. Some of the most compelling words spoken in recent years are from Former First Lady, Michelle Obama. Encouraging us to live with compassion and perspective, she states, “Success isn’t about how much money you make. It’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.” And Obama reminds us to use our voices and actions to support and elevate others around us: “As women, we must stand up for each other. As women, we must stand up for justice for all.”
